Hedonic is of Greek origin and is a word that describes relation to sensations that are either pleasant or unpleasant. On the other hand, eudaemonic is also of Greek origin but is defined as being conducive to happiness. These two words are used in our class to describe two of the three categories of well-being. Together, these two types of well-being are both looking to find happiness in life, which is the reason they both strategies of having a positive life. However, these two terms differ because they find that happiness in different ways. Hedonic Well-Being is looking for pleasant sensations, which can happen through finding happiness and always searching for positive emotion. The Hedonic Well-Being is important to a person who needs only happiness to be fulfilled in life. Eudaemonic Well-Being is different because it focuses on growing throughout life, finding your purpose, and mastering skills and hobbies. The eudaemonic person is different from the hedonic person because they do not solely look for that positivity and happiness, they search for their reason to be alive. Together, these types of well-being give us a different way of life, but both focus on the individual well-being. I think that hedonic and eudaemonic could integrate with one another to form a positive well-being combination.

The Universal Needs data that we collected in class on Tuesday, showed that many people agree that happiness is what we need to feel satisfied with our life. Generally speaking, happiness is something that most people strive for each day but it is not always possible to achieve. In the future, the data collected could influence our society by putting forth effort with various programs/daily activities to increase the happiness of all individuals in our country.
