My calendar is a list of good and bad things (mainly good) that have happened throughout my lifetime that have made me the person I am today. I made this calendar by talking with my parents and helping me set the timeline by ages. These events in my life give me happy thoughts when I look back and see how I have grown and what I have experienced in my lifetime.

Becoming an Adult

The mother and/or father is relied on when the child is experiencing the launching period. This meme describes the conversation that a mom/dad might have with their child who is experiencing college for the first time.

The terms agency and communion are two different terms that can be used in the context of generativity and describe what we bring as individuals to our work and expertise. Agency can be defined as the way one expresses themselves through things creativity and production of ideas and that involve people and events. Agency can be described through the concept of an individual starting a new business or program by promoting and making the idea a success. Generativity relies on agency aspects of a person’s life to tell whether they will find the necessary success and it all depends on the individual’s knowledge, values, skills, and the opportunities they have to plan their goals and achieve them. Communion can be defined by a desire to see the upcoming generations succeed and to care for them as they enhance the world. The people who experience communion are willing to sacrifice their needs and well-being for the next generation, to ensure that they have what is needed to exceed previous expectations. A good example of communion in an older adult is when they give their personal finances to individuals of the new generations so that they can attend college and chase dreams, even if it causes them stress and inability to fulfill their needs. A person experiencing generative communion may feel that it is necessary to contribute to the future by offering their assets and give important things away to benefit the new generation. A person who experiences agency and communion together may feel like they should express concerns and share their occupation and community aspects. Although these two words seem to be similar and are will to give to the future generations, they are also different. The main difference being that people experiencing communion are willing to give up things in their life to help the up and coming generation. These people will sacrifice their well-being and their ability to live in order to see the next generation succeed and make strides that their generation was never able to accomplish due to lack of technology and mass media. The older generation is often will to give up their needs to see their community and society as a whole grow and expand, but that is an aspect of agency that is not touched upon. Agency is based more on sharing their advances and contribute through their work and expertise, not a sacrifice of life needs. Overall, these to aspects of generativity share many of the same attributes but also differ greatly.
